Can I Listen to Quran While Working Out? Listening to the Quran while working out is a personal choice embraced by many individuals seeking a balance between physical fitness and spiritual nourishment. In Surah Al-Baqarah (2:121):
“Those to whom We have given the Book recite it with its true recital. They [are the ones who] believe in it. And whoever disbelieves in it – it is they who are the losers.”
Also in Surah Al-Isra (17:9):
“Indeed, this Qur’an guides to that which is most suitable and gives good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward.”

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
“The one who recites the Quran and is proficient in it will be with the noble and obedient scribes (the angels), and the one who reads the Quran and stammers in it, and it is difficult for him, will have a double reward.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
“Whoever listens to even one verse of the Quran being recited will receive a double reward.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)
What are the “HAQ” of Quran?
We need to understand what is the “haq” of Quran. As per Islamic scholars one should take out some time from every day, say around at least 10 to 15 minutes and after being paak (pure), with utmost respect and attention one should recite Quran. Try to understand the meaning of what you are reciting.
As for the people or situation where you not getting time particularly for recitation of Quran, in that scenario, if you listen to Quran while jogging or in gym or even on driving, it is permissible, it is not any bad or forbidden deed.
In this scenario, According to the scholars, you need to pay attention to a few things like listening to Quran with sincerely and attentively. You shouldn’t be talking and listening to the recitation of Quran. You shouldn’t be disturbing others while listening to Quran. But most importantly listen to Quran as long as you can listen to it attentively.
What Islamic Scholars Say About Listening Quran?
listening to the Quran- whether through the radio, through television or through your mp3 or your computer – Allah says in the Quran : “And whenever the Quran is recited, you must listen to it so that Allah may have his mercy upon you”.
Therefore if you are playing the Quran to listen to it this is okay. you can listen to it while driving, you can listen to it while working in the kitchen or doing something as long as you are able to listen to let’s say 80% and understand and comprehend.

Listening to the recitation of the Quran is a great a DEED. It is as important as reading. But you have to be listening not to be played in the background.
So that’s why if you’re listening in your leisure time or if you in some kind of physical work and it won’t affect your work you can listen to the recitation of Quran.
But the type of work which requires attention and mental attention you cannot be listening to the Quran. Also playing the Quran as background music is not permissible.

It is permissible. when I’m jogging in the park and I’m playing the quran- permissible. Permissible when I’m doing my exercise or I’m fishing and it was my best time to go fishing or hunting while the quran is on- This is also permissible.
How we know this?
The almighty allah says in surat al-imran 3:191 : Who remember Allah while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides and give thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying], “Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

Yeah, I mean no problem listen to it and if he can catch a verse or two and their meanings, that’s beautiful.
So through the various commentary from renowned Islamic scholars we can say that listening to Quran while in gym is permissible as long as you are attentive.
